   I use these programs to clean friends computers.
   It helps speed up the system and usually
   works every time unless there is some very unusual virus on the system.
   They are all free programs.

   1)Get spybot search and destroy, install, update and run.

   i recomend on ONE of those 3

   nod32

   kaspersky

   bitdefender

   vipre made by sunbelt securities awesome product and currently free due to beta testing.

   I have found A-Square 3.5 to be as good as any other, it’s free too!

   avira or avast (free)

   personally NOD32 is very good, uses least amount of RAM, its quiet. BitDefender is also on my top list. and who can forget "HiJackThis" =D awesome!

    If I need to remove something on a per-case basis, some singe infection, I either use U3 software or online virus scanners:

    It’s quicker and easier to run online scanner that bother with downloading, installing and updating a desktop software. But of course as a permanent PC protection there’s no alternative to stand-alone security software.
