Today I reformatted my computer, and since then I lost all my programs but think I’m already infected with some kind of spyware or malware.

So my question is where can I get a very good, thorough and FREE spyware and malware removal and protection program. Whether it be a cracker version, version with a serial, or a truely free program I would appreciate it.

So my computer has this thing called new malware.j that macafee keeps detecting on something called svchost.exe. I read somewhere that svchost is a processor or something but viruses can disguise themselves as that so I’m guessing that’s happening right now. Is there a way to remove it?

I do a lot of work with computers for family and friends, including malware and virus removal. I’ve been doing it forever now, and I have always wondered how malware gets its name.

Do security vendors (McAfee, NOD32, etc.) just give them arbitrary names or do the malware writers name them? Some of them seem fairly strait forward, like the name W32/PoisonIvy.NQ. Others seem like randomly thrown together letters and numbers, which I’m pretty sure some are acronyms.

Any answers are appreciated. :)

okay, so basically…the computer had been running strangely lately. when i had enough of it, i installed and ran malwarebytes. countless trojans! i had the files quarantined and removed. computer needed to restart, so i allowed it to. only now, i get the "sorry for the inconvenience…windows failed to load successfully" — over and over again. it’s basically an infinite loop. i’ve tried to run the recovery console from an xp disc, but have encountered a problem — it keeps asking for an administrator password when there is none. what do i do? please help!!!!!!!
any possibility i could slave the hard drive (to back up what’s on the computer now) and just recover it???

I just finished the biggest exam of my teen years… this is the time when students make decisions for their "next big step’ in life…

Im free until my results come out, so is there any place where i can sign up for some courses on computing online(preferably free)? Something that i can make my minor… or anybody can be my mentor for 6 months?

In advance, im totally dedicated to whatever studying and homework i get and ill read up on anything that is required.. I do have a little (only a little) niches of expertise here and there but just take me as a NOOB (newbie).

This little devil iMesh, though not installed, has been popping up each time the computer was shut down or rebooted, requesting to be installed, but had been repeatedly denied access. It is now becoming a nuisance and I would like to get rid of it completely. What is the easiest way to do it as it tends to slow down the computer?
