  1. I have used Zone Alarm Firewall, I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just changed to Avast antivirus and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

  2. avg free edition…..its the best free shit i’ve ever seen and it works really well

  3. A V G works good

    malwarebytes or superantispyware

  5. Do this on-line scan first : http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html
only if you might be worried that you could be infected now.

then go and get avast for full time protection,
you can not get a better anti virus system for free.
it has many features you will have to pay for in other systems.

don’t forget to register or you will only have it for 60 days
by registering you will get a licence for a full year.
just re-register at the end of the year to get another one year licence.

if you feel you would be even safer with a software firewall
    then
try this one it’s also free and it has no conflicts with avast

if you dont like the look of avast then pc tools
    have a simpler free a- v- system : http://www.pctools.com/free-antivirus/

going online with no protection is a very stupid thing to do.

This one will remove most things. Has worked well for me. It’s not an anti-virus but will remove most malware/trojans.
