it is just a dummy name, having copied all the folder names with an .exe extension..
the real name is Brontok virus.
The Brontok virus is a computer worm that affects computers running Microsoft Windows. It spreads by sending itself to email addresses harvested from the affected computer. Variants of the Brontok worm include:
Brontok.A
Brontok.B
Brontok.C
Brontok.D
Brontok.F
Brontok.G
Brontok.H
Brontok.I
Brontok.K
Brontok.Q
Other names for this worm include: W32/Rontokbro.gen@MM, W32.Rontokbro@mm, BackDoor.Generic.1138, W32/Korbo-B, Worm/Brontok.a, Win32.Brontok.A@mm, Worm.Mytob.GH, W32/Brontok.C.worm, and Win32/Brontok.E, W32.Rontokbro.D@mm.
Brontok Virus came from Indonesia. It arrives as an attachment of e-mail named kangen.exe. When Brontok is first run, it copies itself to the user’s application data directory. It then sets itself to start up with Windows, by creating a registry entry in the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentV… registry key. It disables the Windows Registry Editor and modifies Windows Explorer settings. It removes the option of "Folder Options" in the Tools menu so that the hidden files, where it is concealed, are not easily accessible to the user. It also turns off Windows firewall. In some variants, when a window is found containing certain strings in the window title, the computer reboots. Using its own mailing engine, it sends itself to email addresses it finds on the computer, even faking the own user’s email address as the sender. The computer also restarts when trying to open MS Dos in Windows and Downloading Files from the Internet. It also pop ups an Internet browser which is located in the My Pictures folder.
Once Brontok virus is full-blown in your pc, even the AVG will not work. It paralyzes every virus removal you had, since the virus itself is more updated than the removal. but there is still hope by using the latest AVGAS or a Spyware Terminator. Or else, wipe out your entire hd! Take note: it is more easily spreads in exploring files in the pc.
you will know if it’s a virus, they are updating day to day. besides, have u seen a program in exe folder? nope, it should be in file..and once you right click that exe folder (ex: mydocuments.exe..there is no mydocuments.exe at all) it shows that the folder is an application.
spyware terminator and latest AVG will do (AVGAS)..look in http://www.filehippo.com and i wish that the virus wont terminate your downloading, coz brontok knows if the file downloading will get rid of him(virus) when successfully downloaded so it will interrupts or cancel operation.
