How can I report a virus/trojan information when i only know my file was infected by an unknown trojan/virus ?

I just want to warn the antivirus programs to check that file and create a patch or a removal tool .

Most anti-virus programs have a feature that allows you to send a suspected file in for inspection. With Symantec products, there is a feature called Scan and Deliver. Per the Symantec website: "To use Scan and Deliver, you must first place the suspected file in Quarantine and then send it to Symantec Security Response. Then Symantec Security Response looks at the file for infections. You will be sent an email about the results. There is no charge for this service, but the computer must be connected to the Internet to use it." And here is a detailed description on how to do it through McAfee: http://vil.nai.com/vil/submit-sample.aspx . You can also do a free online scan and it will submit suspicious files for inspection ( http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ is one option).

  2. Using your anti-virus there should be somewhere that you can send the file to them. Click on the Help on your anti-virus program and type in "submit" – see it gives instructions on this.

  3. You may scan that file with your antivirus (for example put the file into a folder and tell to the antivirus to scan that folder) and the antivirus will delete/disinfect the file

Hi there – sorry to hear you’ve been infected by a trojan.

I’m not sure how you can inform the many security vendors of your new piece of malware – usually they are caught by one of thousands of computers setup by each vendor to locate and report back with new malware. However, I’m sure they would be interested if you could email them somehow?

In the meantime, I would recommend you installing a program called Prevx1. It’s a relatively new piece of software, but has already been proven to detect, protect and remove new malware MUCH sooner than all the leading security companies. It would probably be worth your while to let this program run a scan of your machine to see if it recognises this new trojan? This will then provide you with more information to inform the antivirus company.

They are currently offering a 60 Day Free Trial of their product which you can download from here:

    Good Luck.

  5. with the antivirus you have they have option to tell you where to click to give the report just follow the instruction
