new malware.j removal?

So my computer has this thing called new malware.j that macafee keeps detecting on something called svchost.exe. I read somewhere that svchost is a processor or something but viruses can disguise themselves as that so I’m guessing that’s happening right now. Is there a way to remove it?

  1. It really depends, There are many free cleaners out there to help you diagnose your issue. Im not sure how computer savy you are but sometimes its easier to just wipe everything and start fresh.

There are some good free programs such as Malware bytes.

I have a forum, its not big but there are some very help full people on there.

    here is the link http://itstudenthelp.net/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=28

  2. go into safe mode by tapping F8 as soon as you switch it on , download malwarebytes(its free) and run a scan in safe mode then let it run and remove infections at the end then reboot as normal

  3. You can run antivirus and antispyware programs, but the sad fact is if you have found one virus on your computer, you probably have several. Cleaning the computer now requires you to follow these steps, because modern viruses and spyware entrench themselves in files that your computer needs in order to run:

    1. Virus-check your data files (not application files– you have installer CDs for those).
    2. Back up the data files, getting them off your hard drive.
    3. Get your original operating system CDs that came with your computer.
    4. Boot your computer from the operating system CD.
    5. Select the option that erases your hard drive and then reinstall your system software.
    6. Turn on your software firewall that came with your operating system.
    7. Reconnect to the internet, and download *all* Windows updates, no matter how long it takes.
    8. Reinstall your application software, and update the applications as much as you can.
    9. Reinstall your data files.
    10. Create a limited user account on your system that does *not* have administrator access, and web surf only from this account.

Yes, this is a pain in the butt. No, there is no other way. No, antivirus and antispyware programs cannot fix this problem on its own.

So, what do you do in the future?

    1. Never click on links you find in an e-mail.
    2. Never open an e-mail attachment, ever.
    3. Only download files from a reputable website that you know is on the up-and-up.
    4. Never use bit-torrent and other file-sharing programs.
    5. Never use an unsolicited drive-checking site.
    6. Turn off all java and java scripting by default, and only enable java and java scripting for sites that you know you can trust.
    7. Never read an unsolicited e-mail, and delete spam immediately. It is possible to be hacked by reading an e-mail alone.

Please adhere to the ‘dont’s’ I provided above, because you will have to repeat the cleaning steps that I listed first *every time you get infected.* Anti-spyware and anti-virus programs are good to have, but they are a second line of defense. The best way to protect your system is you, and changing your behavior.

    Good luck!

  4. Some good advice offered here and the only thing I would add is that once you’ve dealt with malware.j you need to prevent getting another infection again.

NO security product can protect you 100 percent from malicious software and websites. Your best defense is to use safe surfing and downloading habits COMBINED with a proven security product.

Yeah it can happen. Download Malwarebyte`s antimalware on http://www.downloads.com. Boot your computer in safe mode with networking. Update Malwarebytes and run a full scan.

A good free antivirus is avast. It`s better than Mcaffee i think from several reviews. you may want to use it instead. But do not install 2 antiviruses at the same. it`s only a suggestion but you can stick to mcafee.

  6. You should try using MSCONFIG in Windows XP to disable some of the unnecessary programs that automatically load on start-up. Disabling these programs will help your computer boot faster and crash less.
    1. In Windows XP, go to Start > Run

    2. Type MSCONFIG in the "Open:" box and then either press enter on your keyboard or click on the OK button.

    3. This launches Microsoft’s System Configuration Utility. Click on the Startup tab (the tab at the far right).

    4. This takes you to a page with a list of "startup items." Startup items are programs that are automatically loaded every time you turn on your computer. Some startup programs are absolutely necessary, others are simply a waste of RAM.

Remember, disable only those programs that you recognize and don’t need to have running all the time. When in doubt, leave it on.
    5. Click on the OK button.
    6. A message will pop up telling you that you must restart your computer before these changes will take effect. Click on "Yes" and your computer will automatically reboot.

    7. That’s it! Your computer should now boot faster and crash less.
Download a free antivirus software, we have a few links on the button of a faq’s page http://www.unlimitedtechnicalsupport.com/faq.htm
And you should also update our Antivirus software and run a virus scan,
