I’m attempting to remove malware defense from a friends dell desktop pc, win xp.
I’ve gotten all the info like registry keys to delete, dll’s to unregister, files to delete…etc etc.

Question is this: When it boots up, active desktop recovery opens.. I cannot use system restore, windows installer won’t work to start anti-virii progz… Then of course I can get into safe mode but can’t do much from there either.

Anything else I can try to install some anti-virii progz I have? Any way to turn sys restore back on? I log in as administrator yet it tells me certain things I cannot to and to contact network admin guy… I need assistance removing this nasty thing..

I have a major problem with my PC right now. I can not for the life of me get rid of spyware on my PC. I have Norton, I have run Registry Mechanic and Adware removal and still cant seem to rid my PC of it. Also a lot of time at start up Norton notifies me that it defected and deleted a virus.

This is info on the type of virus it is. The "removal instructions" link doesn’t help me at all. I have McAfee Securtiy Center on my computer. When I run a scan, McAfee always finds this "potentially unwanted program", but no matter what I do it is never removed. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to remove this virus? Thanks in advance.

I’ve tried so many but in the end you always need to buy the full version to get rid of the "AV Security Suite"… Im totally broke and cant afford to pay it! Please, I even tried spybot but it wasnt strong enough to get rid of the virus! HELP Please!

I have CA Security Center and my spyware software works fine, but how do I get spyware from popping up at all? Is there a way to set my software so it scans and gets rid of spyware on a regular basis without my telling it to?
