What is the best anti virus software for vista?
I am using avast home edition, threatfire anti virus free edition, avira antivir personal and malwarebytes anti malware(Purchased). All providing real time protection, i am wondering if all of these are safe enough to be running at the same time and also if it is a good line of security programs to protect my pc. Any recommendations and what security softwares are you using to protect your pc from viruses?

i have AVG Free 8.5
McAfee. No question about it. Its what i use and when you google search something it will tell you if the website is safe. It will test any site for you, any file, it comes with tons of features, and if you have somthing like a worm or trojan…..i will ask you what you want to do: ignore, remove, etc. click remove, and it just takes it away, you dont have to worry about anything.
windows defender,it may already be built in your system,
if not,you can download from microsoft.
there are always updates for new threats for it.
I’m using Avast home and I’m very impressed with the level of protection. It doesn’t nag you or bombard you with adverts like AVG and provides (IMHO) better real time protection.
I don’t think there’s much virtue in running more than one AV at one time because it will seriously impact on your system’s performance.
There are two weapons I use against viruses aswell as Avast:
1) common sense. Don’t download stuff you don’t know where it’s come from. Chances are, if it’s come from a site like downloads.com, it’s more likely to be virus free than not. Anything that’s come from a P2P file share or any site that contains the word "warez" in it, is likely to be crawling with viruses.
2) investigate microsoft virtual PC (or Sun’s virtual box) and run a version of windows on it. Enable the undo discs and test out any file you don’t trust. you can then always close without saving changes!
this is also quite a good site for a second opinion:

Microsoft Security Essentials
Avast is the best free anti virus software I’ve ever used.
